Jarrunis L. Yates (J.R.)

Jarrunis L. Yates (J.R.) grew up in Rock Hill, SC and graduated from Westminster Catawba. He earned a Bachelor of Art degree from Clemson University in secondary education. He received his Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law. While attending Howard University, J.R. was the secretary for the Howard Chapter of ATLA and also was selected for the criminal justice clinic, which was tasked with defending indigent people in Washington, DC charged with felony and misdemeanor crimes. J.R. is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of South Carolina.

J.R. is also a member of the United States Air Force Reserves. First Lieutenant Yates is an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate for the 916th Air Refueling Wing at Seymour Johnson AFB, North Carolina. Lieutenant Yates serves as a Category A reservist.

His practice includes civil litigation with an emphasis in real estate and land use issues. He also focuses on administrative law issues handling worker's compensation, labor law, social security disability claims, and veteran's benefit cases. Lt. Yates' experience as both a civilian and reservist gives him a unique perspective on the issues facing families dealing with difficult legal issues in today's world.

J.R. is married to the former Kimberly Jones of Ridgeway, South Carolina. They have two children, Jarrunis Yates, Jr. and Krislyn Yates.
